Jon Ruben admitted 17 charges at the courthouse on the end of the week

A man who laced candy with sedative and gave them to minors at a youth camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offenses against two boys both between nine and ten.

The defendant was detained after eight children and a grown-up experienced illness at the location in the summer month.

The elderly man, from that region, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.

However, he disputed one particular crime he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.

Ruben was kept in jail prior to a further hearing on 28 November.

'Sweet game'

The prosecutor, prosecuting, outlined Ruben's offending to the court.

She explained his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a summer camp which he managed.

Ruben engaged in a "candy game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior said, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".

She told the court the man had played this game with the children "repeatedly", and minors had previously fallen ill the next day.

She said Ruben had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had concerns in recently.

The prosecutor continued: "In the summer" his stepson had suspicions about what was going on, with valid cause.

"They chose" to investigate in the individual's items."

The prosecutor stated items including baby oil, Vaseline and injection devices were found, and his stepson contacted the authorities about his concerns.

She said the man continued to engage in the "candy game" with six youngsters that evening - that Saturday - and they were all sick the subsequent day.

"The police had not arrived by that time," she continued.

The regulatory agency, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was examining law enforcement's management of the situation.

The legal representative stated the minors were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson notified the police again.

She said the man then played the "candy game" in a room of five minors.
