Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Warriors Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the city.

Note: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.

This warrior group features the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.

This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.

Casimir then cleared his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in the region and warns that it is a hostile environment.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • However, their position as key figures in the influential clan could help the party reach locations they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, Teor vowed a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in search of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

According to episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Questers and Schemers parties.

Audiences can expect discovering which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
